Project 1: Poetic Journey Structure - Spatial Translation
Assignment 1 is a collaborative project in which each participant has their own tasks. In a group of eight students, they must romanticise a rainforest and create a thrilling tale that will be transformed into two distinct Poetic Journey Structures. Students must create a narrative that will be transformed into two different journey structures— concentric and linear—as well as carry out precedent studies, a site visit, and building analysis, recognise various poetic space types, recognise "modifying elements," comprehend the distinctions between a concentric and linear layout, and the qualities of good poetic spatial architecture.
After the assignment, I'm pleased to have gained more knowledge about the poetic sense of the rainforest, linear form, and concentric form, as well as the ways I may use it to create different experiential elements for my contemplative area. I had a great time working on this project with the assistance of my tutor, Ms. Raihana, even though there is a lot that can be improved, such as the diagram drawings, and I learned a lot about the study of the poeticness of the place, the sense of the place, modifying elements, materiality, design form, and other topics.
Project 2: Discovery Center ( Janda Baik, Bentong, Pahang )
A location's "genius loci" has reverberations in its topography, society, culture, history, and memory. Because the objective of Project 2 is to construct a Discovery Center (also known as a visitor Center) for Kampung Janda Baik, these qualities will have an impact on the architects who come up with the architectural ideas and designs. According to the project design brief, the architectural response to the feeling of place must be developed with a strong link and relationship to the site and programmatic needs.
Project 2A: The Discovery Center (Genius Loci) - Site Analysis, Site Response and Design Concept
Reflection
The architectural solution to develop a memory repository that emphasises a close link to the location, spatial experiences, and programmatic goals is required by the design brief for Project 2B. Through systematic study of spatial typologies, the connections among plan parts, and the surroundings during tutorial sessions, I have learned how to construct designs. With the help of the structural and environment workshop, I was able to address basic building construction, material, and environmental challenges.
Project 2B The Discovery Center (Janda Baik)
Project 1 and Project 2A are carried on in Project 2B.The goal of Project 2A was to employ historical research and site study to guide the Discovery Center's architectural design. Under Project 2B, it is necessary to build a DISCOVERY CENTER (Visitor Center), and the design brief calls for an architectural response that places a strong emphasis on a connection and interaction with the site, people, culture, history, spatial experiences, and programmatic requirements.
In order for users to "DISCOVER" information about the people, place, activities, culture, history, etc. associated with Kampung Janda Baik, students must design a structure for their final project. It will function as a visitor centre with educational exhibits, a museum-like historical or cultural journey, an engaging "edutainment" programme, and areas or spaces to engage with the residents and the natural surroundings. Using all of this knowledge, environments that demand poetic architectural design will be produced.
